September 18, 2016 By Andrea Leave a Comment

medici masters of florence premiere

It's very hard not to be excited in Florence, lately. Just a few days ago I wrote about the Inferno premiere, and here I am again. It's official: the worldwide Medici Masters of Florence premiere is also set in Florence, at Palazzo Vecchio, on October 14th, 2016, just 8 days after Inferno. "Medici: Masters of Florence" is an Italian-American TV series co-produced by Lux Vide and Big Lights Productions. Season one will have 8 episodes and will be focused on the rise of the Medici family, with … [Read more...] about Medici Masters of Florence premiere in Florence

Pope Francis in Florence

Today, the beautiful city of Florence was honored to receive a visit by Pope Francis. Despite the proximity to Rome and the Vatican City, this is an event that doesn't happen very often. We have to go back in history for almost thirty years to see another Pope in Florence, it was John Paul II in 1986, and another twenty years to see Paul VI, who celebrated the mass for Christmas in Florence after the devastating flood of the river Arno in 1966. … [Read more...] about Pope Francis in Florence – Photo Gallery

Florence and the Uffizi 3D

The trailer for the art film "Florence and the Uffizi 3D / 4K" has been finally released. Florence is already one of the top tourist destinations in the world, maybe this is why Italy and Tuscany don't spend a lot in promotion (not a good thing in my opinion), but in the next 12 months, thanks to private initiatives, the city of Florence will have an unprecedented visibility. I always wondered why such a beautiful city didn't appear very often in films, but someone in the industry must have … [Read more...] about Florence and the Uffizi 3D trailer

Baptistery North doors moved into Duomo Museum

September 12, 2015 By Andrea Leave a Comment

baptistery north doors

After two years of restoration, last night at 9:30 pm the first half of the Baptistery North doors by Lorenzo Ghiberti left the Opificio Delle Pietre Dure to be moved into the new Opera del Duomo Museum. It was a matter of moving a 4,000 Kg work of art for about 500 metres, going through the most suggestive place in Florence: Piazza del Duomo. This is part of a series of interventions on the heritage of the Cathedral of Florence, made for the scheduled visit of Pope Francesco in town between … [Read more...] about Baptistery North doors moved into Duomo Museum
