Restaurant Il Latini in Florence

August 15, 2015 By Andrea Leave a Comment

One of the things I feel are missing from this blog are some articles on the best typical restaurants in Florence Italy. Speaking of typical restaurants, I can’t but start from the most typical: the Restaurant Il Latini.

Wining and Dining in Florence: All About the Restaurant Il Latini

restaurant il latiniTuscan cuisine that is this immersive is almost like going back in time because it takes you to a place that you’ve never been (culture-wise). You can actually take a tour of the restaurant through the use of an online tour, which is something a lot of people go through. It’s a well known restaurant because there’s a lot of history behind the building, and if you want to truly experience Tuscan cuisine (for what it really is), you’ll make a reservation or two at this restaurant The traditions that have been passed down for centuries are still alive at this restaurant, and that’s a trait that most other restaurants in Florence tend to overlook. Obviously there are going to be some other locations that are “ideal”, but the Restaurant Il Latini is the most popular choice. Relationships and bonds that can never be broken get built at the tables of this restaurant, and every single year they hold a “Latini prize” ceremony. Some of the previous winners include names like Maria Mellongi, Indro Montanelli, Carlo Bo and even Eugenio Garin.

The cuisine that you’ll be partaking in is only going to make the situation that much more enjoyable, when you pair that alongside a group of great friends it’s an experience that you can grow to get used to. The reviews regarding the service and food are ecstatic, so you can expect to be blessed with some of the best service you’ve ever seen. Some people have even claimed that it was the best meal of their lives, as well as saying it’s a family experience that everybody can enjoy. The restaurant is located at Via dei Palchetti, 6 – so you don’t need to travel away from the city center to have a meal or two.

The Wine Cellar

The wine cellar is a very big deal in this restaurant because wine connoisseurs from all over the world flock here to taste what they’ve got in stock. The cellars themselves are elegant and traditional, and there’s even tables set-up down there to give you an authentic wine-tasting experience. They’ve done a few recent renovations to the wine cellar as well, improving upon the already wonderful setting that you’d find yourself in. The amount of selection they’ve got to offer is quite intriguing, and it’s something that most other restaurants in the area couldn’t provide you with. Tuscany is known for having the finest wines the world could offer us, and that’s why the wine cellar is such a big deal here; they offer both local Tuscany variations of wine and nay others as well.

There are a specific number of wines that are considered the “Supertuscans”, and they would be Sassicaia, Ornellaia and Tignanello. Non-local wines aren’t always going to be sought after, but they’re readily available for anybody who wants to make use of them! The Restaurant Il Latini is one of the most popular locations in Florence, and now you know why.
